Welcome to the largest island in Indonesia with the world’s third largest tropical rainforest.

After you arrive in Pangkalan Bun you will be driven to Kumai in about 30 minutes. Your traditional Klotok wooden boat is waiting in Kumai to take you on a fascinating journey through the untouched jungle of Borneo.

You will immediately be amazed by the sounds of the jungle on the first day.

As you slowly glide along the river in Tanjung Puting National Park and discover the countless biodiversity of flora and fauna, your private tour guide, captain, chef and crew will take care of your well-being.

Look forward to fresh local specialties on deck with a fantastic view of the jungle’s nature.

On your first day, you will visit the locals at Tanjung Harapan Village and have the opportunity for an intercultural exchange to learn more about the traditional way of life and life and survival in the jungle.

After breakfast at the resort, you’ll return to the deck and glide along the river to Camp Leaky, a reserve for older orangutans who are being released into their natural habitat.

On the way you stop at Pondok Ambung, a tropical research station in the middle of the jungle. An incredible variety of colorful butterflies awaits you there.

With a professional park ranger, you’ll have the opportunity to hike through the jungle in search of wild orangutans, gibbons, proboscis monkeys and macaques. You’ll also discover an incredible variety of colorful birds, reptiles and insects.

In the dense jungle, with a bit of luck, you can also spot the rare flower of the largest plant in the world – the giant rafflesia (Rafflesia arnoldii).

You can also enjoy your lunch and dinner on board today (included). In the dark of night you then go back into the jungle to discover the nocturnal animals such as tarantulas, tarsiers, etc.

After breakfast at the resort, your captain will be waiting for you to drive you to Pondok Tangguy to feed the orangutan orphans (9:00 a.m.).

Enjoy your healthy and fresh lunch on board (included) before hiking a few hundred meters to Camp Pesalat.

There you have the opportunity to plant endemic fruit trees (which only grow here and are an important food source for wild orangutans).

They will be part of the government’s reforestation program and Carbon Offset Program to preserve vital forests and create new food sources for wild orangutans. Many of these trees have been destroyed by bushfires in recent years.

Afterwards, enjoy a delicious Kalimantan coffee while observing nature. After dinner (included) you will return to your resort.

Today your captain welcomes you on board to get to know the surrounding traditional villages in the jungle in more detail.
