After a relaxing breakfast at the hotel, your guide will be waiting for you at the lobby for an exciting city tour of Cochin.
First, you will visit Matancherry in Cochin, followed by the oldest Jewish synagogue in India, built in 1568.
We continue to the Dutch Palast.
This was destroyed by the Portuguese and rebuilt a century later by the Dutch. Afterwards you will see the typical Chinese fishing nets.
These fishing nets are fixed land installations for an unusual form of fishing.
You will then visit the Church of St. Francis (Vasco da Gama’s Tomb), the first church to be built in the new, European-influenced tradition.
Vasco De Gama died here in 1524 and was originally buried in the cemetery.
(Dutch Palace: closed on Friday) (Synagogue: closed on Friday and Saturday)
In the evening, relax with the Kathakali dance performance.
Kathakali katha stands for story, kali for performance or acting, and is an expressive form of Indian dance or dance drama.
It’s a spectacular mix of drama, dance, music, and ritual. Characters with vividly painted faces and elaborate costumes tell stories from the Hindu epics Mahabharata and Ramayana.
