‘ After breakfast, check out and drive to Kabo Village, where you will take a motorized canoe up the Sangatta River to Kutai National Park.
After your arrival, check in at the Prefab Research Station. The research station offers a unique starting point for day and night tours through the jungle.
After a rest, you will start your first private tour through the jungle in search of wild orangutans and other jungle inhabitants.
North of the Mahakam, Kutai NP is home to some very beautiful lakes, such as Danau Maau, Santan, Besar and Sirapan, surrounded by traditional Bugi villages.
The 2,000 square kilometer area, formerly part of the Kutai Game Reserve, has been under strict protection since 1970.
The Kutai NP is dominated by tropical lowland rainforest and is home to 958 different plant species, including 8 of the world’s 9 species of winged fruit plants (Dipterocarpaceae), 41 orchid species and 220 different types of medicinal plants, 10 different primates, 90 different types of mammals and 300 different bird species inhabit the park. Orangutans, Malayan bears, sambar deer, Sunda oxen, maroon lemurs, proboscis monkeys, clouded leopards, flying squirrels, sea otters and many other animal species can be discovered.
