Your private guide will of course be happy to answer any questions you may have about your travel planning.

Accommodation: Hotel Deli River, Deluxe Cottage, Medan, incl. breakfast

Leisure.

Surrounded by a lush tropical garden, Hotel Deli River offers a unique experience for your stay in the city of Medan.

Located 12 kilometers outside the city center, 1 hour’s drive from Medan’s Kuala Namu Airport, the cottages are surrounded by a rich variety of fruits and plants native to North Sumatra, such as rambutan, jambu, sawo, mango, palm trees, banana trees and a wonderful variety of tropical flowers.

Your hotel is home to more than twenty species of different exotic birds in the tropical garden.

Each room has hot showers with solar energy, TV with international channels, free water, coffee and tea and free Wi-Fi access.

Accommodation: Hotel Deli River, Deluxe Cottage, Medan, incl. breakfast

After breakfast and check-out, your guide will be waiting for you at the lobby to drive you into the jungle of Tangkahan.

The drive to Tangkahan takes 4-5 hours, despite only 93 km (so please arrive at noon at the latest).

On the way there, we offer you the opportunity to visit some highlights with your guide, e.g. the Royal Palace of the Sultan of Deli, also known as Maimon Palace, built in 1888, the great mosque Mesjid Raya, built in 1906.

On arrival, enjoy the magnificent views of the tropical rainforest and the river that flows past your lodge (a popular playground for large monitor lizards).

Accommodation: Jungle Lodge, River View Room, Tangkahan, incl. breakfast

After breakfast and well rested, you will go on a discovery tour through the jungle of Tangkahan with your private guide.

Your experienced guide will explain everything you need to know about the unique flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest and make sure that with a little luck you will discover wild orangutans, gibbons, macaques, elephants, and many other exotic animal and plant species on your trekking tour through the dense jungle and crystal clear rivers.

The tour also takes you along mysterious-looking caves with ancient stalactites and stalagmites.

To top it off, you can glide along the Batang Serangan River on floats and feel like you’re dancing through the jungle.

Your lunch will be served to you during the trek through the jungle.

Accommodation: Jungle Lodge, River View, Tangkahan, incl. breakfast

Before heading to Leuser NP today, you will have the unique opportunity to wash and bathe the patrol elephants in Leuser National Park.

Please note:

The elephants are not circus attractions for tourists – they are the heroes of the jungle and work for nature conservation!

In Indonesia (and all of Southeast Asia), elephants have been used as farm animals for thousands of years, just as horses are used in Europe and America. The elephants are bred and spend the weekdays in the jungle, not in cages or enclosures.

They have been used for centuries as a means of transport through the jungle to combat illegal loggers and poachers.

The patrol elephants and park rangers in Tangkahan enjoy our highest respect.

The elephants, of course, deserve good treatment and also enjoy being washed and bathed.

Afterwards we continue by jeep towards Bukit Lawang.

On the way you will see many plantations of the most exotic fruits and get in touch with the local population during some stops.

Once you arrive in Bukit Lawang, you will first check in at your lodge and then go with your guide in search of wild orangutans and other native wildlife in Leuser National Park

Accommodation: Hotel Orangutan, Deluxe Room, Bukit Lawang, incl. breakfast

Early in the morning, your trekking tour through the Leuser National Park begins in search of wild animals. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and provides a safe home for the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan, the Sumatran tiger and the Sumatran rhinoceros.

75% of the wild orangutan populations live in this park.

Therefore, the chance of wildlife observations is particularly high.

Macaques, langurs, gibbons, peacocks, flying squirrels and hornbills also like to be seen frequently.

Your guide will tell you everything you need to know about nature and its inhabitants along the way.

Your lunch will be served in the jungle by the river, where you can relax and cool off in the crystal clear waters while swimming.

After that, you will hike for another hour and explore the magical rainforest, hike up the hills to a fantastic viewpoint with many wild orchids.

After a short break, you will continue upstream to the Bohorok River and back to your hotel.

Accommodation: Hotel Orangutan, Deluxe Room, Bukit Lawang, incl. breakfast

Today you set off in about 5 hours into the cool mountain world of Berastagi.

Along the beautiful traditional villages and waterfalls, you will make a stop to explore the Lumbini National Park.

In addition to the unique nature and biodiversity of Sumatra, you can admire the Taman Alam Lumbiniis, near the village of Dolat Rayat.

The complex is a beautiful copy of the “Shwedagon Pagoda” from Yangon in Myanmar and is just as artistically gilded.

The high mountains with their fertile soils are the most important producer of fruits, vegetables and flowers in North Sumatra.

Discover and taste the most delicious and exotic fruits at the Berastagi fruit and vegetable market. Before heading to your hotel, you will enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the two volcanoes Sinabung & Sibayak from Gudaling Hill.

Accommodation: Berastagi Cottage, First Class Room, Berastagi, incl. breakfast

After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to the largest crater lake in the world in about 6 hours – Lake Toba.

Enjoy the wonderful view along lakes, pine forests and fruit and vegetable plantations.

Explore the traditional village life of the locals and taste one of the best coffees in the world, from the plantations of the villagers.

Once in Parapat, take the ferry across Lake Toba to Samosir Island.
