Due to the different dissolved minerals, the three lakes change their colors from black to turquoise or reddish brown and green at intervals of several years.

The locals see the crater lakes as a source of deceased souls. Afterwards you will head towards the wild north coast with some stops at Nduaria (fruit market), where you can stock up on the most delicious exotic fruits for the rest of the journey, and at Detusoko, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the picturesque rice terraces.

Before heading to your hotel, you will have the opportunity to refresh yourself with a swim during a stop at Pengganjawa Beach.

The beach is known for its sparkling blue pebbles.

Accommodation: Manulalu Bajawa, Deluxe Room, Bajawa, incl. breakfast & lunch

After breakfast, your private guide will be waiting for you at the lobby to explore the unique Ngada culture with you on a half-day excursion through Bajawa.

After visiting a bamboo plantation, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Mount Inarie, one of the highest volcanoes on Flores (2,245 m), known for its beautiful cone-shaped shape.

Continue to Luba, a traditional Ngada village. From here, it is only a 15-minute walk to Bena, the most impressive of all Ngada villages and one of the most beautiful traditional villages in Indonesia.

Built at the foot of Mount Inarie, the village of Bena consists of 2 parallel rows of traditional tall thatched houses.

In the center of the village, in addition to the shrines of the ancestors, there are many megalithic formations that are supposed to connect the Ngada people to the supernatural realm and communicate with the ancestors, often through animal sacrifices.

For lunch, head back to Bajawa to a local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue west to Paukate, the starting point of a 1-hour hike through the dry savannah with stunning views over the Savu Sea.

After 1 hour, you will arrive at Belaraghi, a very traditional Ngada village founded in the 16th century.

Enjoy the warm hospitality of his clan and the unique opportunity to spend the night in a traditional house.

Before dinner, take part in a unique welcome ceremony with the locals, where you ask for the protection of the village ancestors.

The ceremony lasts 30 minutes and is led by the village chief.

He will speak a few words in their national language as a symbol of their reception for his guests.

To welcome the guests, betel nuts are distributed and a chicken is sacrificed, which is later eaten together. The food is prepared by the lady of the house where the guests are staying.

You will spend the night in a simple traditional inn in the village of Belaraghi.

Accommodation: Guesthouse, Belaraghi Village, incl. full board

Enjoy the very peaceful early morning atmosphere at Belaraghi Village.

Then we drive along the small villages, rice terraces and rainforests towards Ruteng. You will take two absolute highlights along the way.

You will visit the village of Aimere, where you can visit an arak distillery and taste the traditional liquor and fresh palm tree juice.

Afterwards a short stop at the beautiful beach of Mbalata. After that, you will move away from the coast and continue into the highlands towards the western district of Manggarai.

Your lunch will be served at a local restaurant along the way. Afterward, continue to “Ranamese,” a picturesque lake in the tropical rainforest, before arriving in Ruteng, the capital of Manggarai District and the largest rice-growing area of Flores, as well as an important Indonesian coffee-growing region.

Ruteng is located about 1,100m in the volcanic highlands and offers a cool climate.

Accommodation: Spring Hill Ruteng, Deluxe Room, Ruteng, incl. breakfast & lunch

Early in the morning you will be picked up from the hotel at 06.00 am and driven to Denge Village (approx. 6 – 7 hours).

For lunch (included), take a break at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Bintor/Denge Village, you will take a short ride on the Ojek motorbike and then start the hike to the traditional village of Waerebo, about 2 hours.

Along the way, you’ll pass the Wae Lomba River, Pocoroko, and the picturesque landscapes of Nampe Bakok before finally arriving in the traditional village of Wae Rebo.

The ancient village of the Manggarai is located in a fantastic natural landscape, isolated in the mountains.

The proud inhabitants like to show their visitors their old traditions and crafts. You will immerse yourself in the daily life of the Manggarai people for a whole day and learn about the customs and cultures of the locals.

The traditional houses have very high ceilings and consist of 5 floors, with the upper floors used to store various things such as food and tools, and only the lower floor as living space.

After breakfast in the village, you will take a hike down to the village of Denge and drive to Melo Village, where you will have the opportunity to see the traditional caci dance.

Caci Dance is a ritual whip fight, an important element of Manggarai’s cultural identity.

Caci is played by two male opponents, with one of them usually coming from another village to compete against each other.

Spectators support their favorite party by cheerfully shouting their encouragement, making it a very lively event.

Afterward, head back to your beach hotel in Labuan Bajo.

Accommodation: Puri Sari Beach Hotel, Deluxe Room, Labuan Bajo, incl. breakfast

After your early breakfast, your private guide will be waiting for you at the lobby at around 06:00 AM to drive you to Labuan Bajo Port.

There you will check in on your private Phinisi boat and drive to Rinca Island in about 2 hours.

You will reach the island at around 8.30 am, so we will have a greater chance of seeing the Komodo dragons as they are mostly active between 9 and 10 am and are easier to see.

Together with your guide and the forester, you will hike along the path, which has recently been fenced on each side, to observe the Komodo dragons and other wildlife, as well as the exotic fauna.

Wildlife observation can now only be done from the promenade so as not to disturb the endangered wildlife too much.

Passing the island of Kelor, you continue to the small island of Kalong. A true natural paradise with untouched nature, surrounded by huge mangrove forests.

Enjoy a unique natural spectacle in the late afternoon, when thousands of fruit bats go in search of food and darken the sky.

Before you go to the evening rest, fresh culinary delicacies await you on board for dinner.

Accommodation: Phinisi Boat with air-conditioned cabins, guide, captain & private chef, incl. full board (private without other guests on board)

After your breakfast on board, you will sail to the island of Padar and have plenty of time to climb the highest peak to enjoy this unique panorama over the island.

After your descent, you will drive to the main island of Komodo and be met by your private park ranger at Loh Liang Station.

In about an hour, you will hike to Banugulung, a former feeding ground for the Komodo dragons, to which they still like to return.

(Note: Komodo dragons are strictly protected and find enough natural food on the island and therefore do not have to/should not be lured especially for tourists).

On the way to Banugulung, you will discover not only the giant lizards, but many other wild animals.

From time to time, direct your gaze to the treetops, because that’s where the monitor lizard babies hide from their cannibalistic counterparts.

Afterward, it’s back on board, where your freshly prepared lunch is already waiting for you. During this time, you will drive to the famous “Pink Beach”.

Enjoy sunbathing on one of the most beautiful beaches in Indonesia.

Accommodation: Phinisi Boat with air-conditioned cabins, guide, captain & private chef, incl. full board (private without other guests on board)

Before heading back to Labuan Bajo today, make a stop at the famous Manta Point (weather permitting). The chance (depending on the weather and state of mind of the animals) is very high to see small to huge manta rays.

Afterwards you will visit Sebayur and the surrounding islands to enjoy some time for sunbathing and snorkeling.

In the evening, enjoy a fantastic sunset with a view over the Indian Ocean and the small neighboring islands.

Accommodation: Elang Hillside Bamboo Villas, Deluxe Villa with Sea View, Labuan Bajo, incl. breakfast

Enjoy breakfast with a fantastic view.

The importance of Komodo kites to the ecosystem cannot be overstated. As Apex predators, they play a crucial role by regulating the populations of other animals, which ultimately maintains the balance of the entire ecosystem.
