The rest of the day is at your leisure.

The city of Kochi, better known as Cochin, consists of many parts.

For a long time, Kochi played a key role in the development of trade and transport in the region.

Kochi’s excellent location on the west coast, its bay and its sheltered harbour made it popular with many seafarers and merchant ships who anchored here to load spices, coffee and wood on their voyage to Europe and West Asia.

And so Kochi flourished over time as a bustling port city and trading center. Its coastline is still very important for Cochin and India: it is home to a naval base and the busiest port in India

Accommodation: Dutch Bungalow (4*), Boutique Room, Cochin, incl. breakfast

These fishing nets are fixed land installations for an unusual form of fishing.

You will then visit the Church of St. Francis (Vasco da Gama’s Tomb), the first church to be built in the new, European-influenced tradition.

Vasco De Gama died here in 1524 and was originally buried in the cemetery.
