WELCOME TO BOA VIDA
A hotel at the southernmost tip of Asia offers guests the experience of true island life, where time stands still and worries are left behind.
PULAU ROTE
The secluded white sand beaches, unique mangroves, uninhabited islets, intact coral reefs, diverse marine life and world-class waves are just some of the features that make Rote Island a little paradise on earth.
Rote has two distinct seasons: wet and dry. During the dry season (May – September) the skies are almost always clear with regular trade winds from the southeast with cooler temperatures. During the rainy season (November – February) there is some rain, especially in December and January, and temperatures begin to rise. Between seasons there are light, changeable winds and very pleasant temperatures. Mosquitoes are a rare occurrence due to Pulau Rote’s dry climate.
The people of Rote are very friendly and helpful. The island itself is also very safe and offers you the advantage of being able to sleep freely and without worries. They are predominantly Christian and religion plays an important role in their lives.
The local economy in Rote is primarily characterized by the cultivation of Lontar plantations and algae for cosmetic purposes. Fishing and livestock farming are also popular, hence the frequent sight of pigs, goats and cows roaming freely on the island.
Rote’s food culture is usually based on local organic products. Fruits and vegetables are purchased at local markets and supplied by local farmers. Meat and fish are usually purchased directly from local fishermen.
All in all, Rote Island offers you an exciting tropical getaway that is still remote and unexplored, unlike many other destinations in Indonesia. So come to us and see the magic for yourself. Rote is truly a little paradise on earth waiting to be discovered.
IKAT
Indonesia is home to some of the world’s oldest weaving techniques, passed down by generations of women in this country. Since each region has unique characteristics that distinguish it from other regions, Red is no different. Here, Ikat, or a traditional weaving technique, is a sacred knowledge of dyeing yarn that is usually passed down from grandmother to her children and grandchildren. Dyes are typically made from extracted roots and flowers, ranging from dull to brighter colors, which are then bound together on the textile to create specific patterns. This tradition is unique, especially those made in Rote. Many women can be seen weaving outside their homes, creating beautiful textiles that are natural and free of chemical dyes.
SURF
Surfing is the main reason Rote Island thrives. With many surfing spots along the coast, many people have attracted many people to visit this island over the last 30 years. However, Rote also offers many activities for non-surfers.
The unique landscape, quiet and uninhabited beaches, rock pools and mangroves are just some of the wonderful sights to see here on the Red Island.
Rote is home to one of Indonesia’s most unique and lush ecosystems, offering mangroves with white sand bottoms and crystal clear waters all year round. Kayaking, fishing and sailing have also become popular activities for many visitors and are available most months of the year.
SECURITY
Rote is a very safe travel destination. Whether you are traveling alone, as a couple, with friends or family, you will never feel unsafe or threatened on this island. This island is still new to tourism, so the locals are very eager and curious about new travelers.
They are very welcoming and friendly so you don’t have to worry. If you are nice to them, they will be even nicer to you. Smile and you will immediately feel welcome here. The most important thing is to be respectful of the locals and the surrounding area and you will have a great time.

Bo’a Vida’s private suites are accompanied by a cliff-side restaurant and a private cove where you can swim on the beach. The peace and the spectacular views are unique. That’s why we want our guests to fully immerse themselves and enjoy everything this beautiful island has to offer. With only three rooms, we try to keep your experience at the resort as personal as possible.
At Bo’a Vida we value the local environment and have great respect for nature. That’s why we built and furnished this eco-hotel using local materials with the help of local craftsmen. We have also created hydro gardens to be able to reuse water and preserve this source as much as possible. We are also very happy to be solar powered.
Bo’a Vida contributes to the local community by teaching English. Some of our guests enjoy participating in social activities and we encourage them to bring books that are still in good condition so that we can add them to the school library. We also organize small presentations at Boa School with guests who would like to share an interesting life story or personal experience. We always try to connect these lessons and focus them on the importance of education.
We hope to have the pleasure of hosting you and making you feel at home on this paradise island.
